S. Lynn O'Neil Biography

Ms. O’Neil grew up in Louisville as a member of a working-class family.  Her parents dedicated their careers to helping others. Her mother, Pam, is a Registered Nurse, and her father, Robert. served as a Louisville Metro Narcotics Detective, and currently is an investigator for the Office of the Attorney General.  Her determination, hard work ethic, and commitment to education came from her family upbringing – because at an early age, she learned the importance of hard work, education, and determination in creating opportunities, overcoming obstacles and opposition to create avenues for success.

After graduating from Louisville Male Traditional High School in 2000, she left Louisville to pursue her dream of becoming an attorney.  She enrolled at the University of Kentucky as a political science major, and during her time there, she joined Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and worked part-time as a manager at Penn Station.

After graduating from the University of Kentucky in 2004 with a B.A. in Political Science, she attended Northern Kentucky University Salmon P. Chase College of Law where in 2009, she graduated with a Juris Doctorate.  During her tenure there, she was also a Kentucky Legal Education Opportunity (KLEO) Scholar.  In 2012, Ms. O’Neil was admitted to the practice of law in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, as well as the United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky.  She also serves as a substitute teacher for the Jefferson County Public School System.  Her dedication to helping others as a defense attorney specializing in criminal and family law, and as a teacher passing on educational knowledge and wisdom to students in the classroom is driven from within.

Ms. O’Neil is the owner and managing partner of S. Lynn O’Neil Attorney-at-Law LLC law firm located in downtown Louisville which also serves the surrounding counties. As a legal scholar, she had the honor of serving as the Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney in 2013, and worked at Waite, Schneider, Bayless and Chesley in Cincinnati.  In addition, she served as a legal extern at the Kentucky Office of the Attorney General in the Kentucky Bureau of Investigation Unit and the Special Prosecution Unit.  Ms. O’Neil was also an Equal Justice Works AmeriCorps Legal Fellow for AppalReD Legal Aid, and is a professional member of the Kentucky Bar Association and the Kentucky Justice Association.

She strongly believes that innovative action can reduce many of our cities problems, and is also a strong advocate for government transparency and accountability.

Event Calendar

February 2018

Dear Fellow Kentuckian,

I am writing to ask you to contribute to my campaign for the Louisville Metro Council District 7 seat.  Your support of my endeavor will enable me to help continue the fight for positive change for the people.  This wonderful opportunity to be in public service arose due to the fact that the incumbent, Angela Leet, will be making her run for Mayor of Louisville - our great city.  There are over 25,000 constituents of Louisville Metro District 7, and I would be honored to continue the positive change that Councilwoman Angela Leet has accomplished during her tenure.   District 7 has many great initiatives under way such as the Herr Lane Transportation Project; the Northeast Library, and the stop light placement at Westport Road.

My vision is one in which we build for the future with passion, people, and purpose.  We can make district 7 a better place with your input and support.  I am a candidate that is willing to make the most of every opportunity to include your thoughts, ideas, view-points and concerns in the decision-making process.  I need your support so that I can represent you as we move forward with initiatives for our district.

You don’t have to contribute thousands of dollars to make a difference - if enough people band together to give $100, $50, and $25, we can stand up to my opponents and send a strong message of change! Every bit helps.  I believe in you, as I am dedicated to the cause. You can contribute securely online by clicking the "Donate" button to your left – or you can mail checks to S. Lynn O’Neil, 312 S. 4th Street, Suite 700, Louisville, KY 40202. Make checks payable to S. Lynn O'Neil.

Thank you for your consideration – I need you!  I know that together we can continue to make district 7 stronger and better.
